When it comes to fashion, Kim Jensen says it comes down to this: comfort, classic and original. Right so it’s no wonder that Kim operates one of Madison’s most popular boutiques and that she recently was honored with the prestigious Best Dressed Award at the Morgan County Conservancy’s famous Derby Party. So I popped into the shop to see what’s the what. First, Kim said she wore a vintage dress for the occasion that looks very similar to this fab Vintage brand dress that’s currently in her shop! And, all of this brings me to Best Biz Buzz Buys!
Up at Number 1: Ok y’all if you know me, then you know I flat love the Johnny Was brand and you’ll find it at Amelia’s. So I picked out this beautiful Johnny Was dress for only $159! I mean I was really surprised that the dress wasn’t priced higher! Yay for me. But another reason to go to Amelia’s is for the customer service! I mean, Kim says her staff can truly help dress their customers! “We’re very honest when it comes to helping our customers,” she says. Plus they know what’s going to work on individual body types. As for me, well of course that Johnny Was dress works perf with the Biz Buzz!
Biz Buzz Buy Number 2: Right so immediately after securing my Johnny Was I popped over next door to Keith Rex’s J&K Fleas An’Tiques and found the most fun items but truly fell in love with the fabulous garden goddess statue that will be a fab fit in my garden! It’s antique, stands around 2.5 feet and is priced around $120. Now that’s a great find! And, y’all you’ll flip when you see all of the estate jewelry! I mean J&K has the largest collection in the Lake Oconee region! Y’all get over there and check it all out! Plus it’s just plain fun to stroll around this huge shop and wonder among the antiques, china and glassware, paintings, honey you name it! J&K Fleas Antiques is located next to Amelia’s on Main Street in downtown Madison!
Biz Buzz Buy Number 3: Ok so now that we’re into the garden theme, I found some really beautiful outdoor canvas art at none other than the Creative Mart located at 165 South Main Street in downtown Madison. This canvas art features gardenesque images that are on a treated canvas that will withstand the weather so they are perfect for front porches and screened porches! They come in several sizes and are priced at $63!
Ok so I have to be honest! I have another Best Biz Buzz Buy and it’s yoga from two of Madison’s fabulous yoga studios. Ok I just joined Holding Space Yoga Studio located behind Thrifty Mac at 180 Hancock St., in Madison and truly love the classes! Plus the price is super affordable! Drop in classes are $12 or you can get a set of five classes for $60 or 10 classes for $90 or honey you can get unlimited yoga for $55 a month! Ding dang down dog y’all! They feature gentle yoga, Vinyasa, hot yoga, power yoga and a couple of all-levels yoga classes per week! Holding Space also features four super yoga instructors! My fave is the gentle class but I’m working on moving up the yoga peace train! I’ll be hittin those power classes before you know it!
Right so I love yoga so much that I also pop on over to The Yoga Co-Op which is located next to Petals Salon on East Jefferson Street! This studio has everything you could ever want and features a host of very talented instructors, among them Rene Uma Brown. I really love Uma’s gentle yoga class and especially like the Wednesday, 5:15 class! Honey you will feel fab when you leave and sleep like a baby! Each instructor has their own payment arrangements! Check out The Yoga Co-Op on Facebook for the weekly schedule!
And, I love to pop into Anandi Allie Bourgeois, who introduced many Madisonians to yoga. While now living in Atlanta, she still visits Madison each Friday for three classes at Pointe of Grace dance studio located at 1512 Eatonton Hwy., in Madison. You can pay a drop-in rate or purchase classes by the month. Her therapeutic class is my all-time fave!
Hey and don’t forget if you’re in Rutledge honey Yoga with Eva Young is the BEST! I love Eva! Y’all met her at Madison Fest! Anywho, Eva is just a beautiful person and excellent yoga instructor. Plus she has a Saturday Qigong class that’s a no-fee class! Whaat! Check out her website at www.youngyoga.org!
That’s it! I’m flat outta space! See y’all next week! Have fun and put on a smile!
