Charlotte Anne Pace

Charlotte Anne Pace, 87 of Rutledge, died August 17, 2017.  Mrs. Pace was born in Mansfield, on February 2, 1930 to David and Lottie Maude Hays Hitchcock.  She was married to the late Carter Pace.  Mrs. Pace was a homemaker and was talented with her hands.  She painted and drew and enjoyed sewing and gardening.  She played the piano and sang and loved to build.  A beautiful woman with a beautiful heart has reached a beautiful place.  Anne Pace, our beloved Mother carried herself with a heart of faith, kindness, love and charity.  She has brought forth each of these qualities in her own children and in the lives of those she touched.  She will live on through each of us and the love she instilled in our hearts and minds.

Mrs. Pace is survived by her children, Patricia Annette Maines, David Stevens Pace and Debra Jean Pace.  Her grandchildren are Matthew Wayne Bruce and LaDana Sue Bruce and Christopher Stevens Pace.  She also leaves nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Sunday, August 20, from 2-4 p.m.  A private committal service was held at the Rutledge City Cemetery.

Margaret Edwards Fitzpatrick

Margaret Edwards Fitzpatrick, 80 of Madison, died August 21, 2017.   She was born July 25, 1937 in Commerce to Charles and Lucy Landrum Edwards.  She was married to Ed Fitzpatrick.  Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a member of Madison Baptist Church.  She was retired from the Gwinnett County School system.  She had also worked in the Morgan County Schools and for a time with Southern Bell.  Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a meticulous house keeper.  She enjoyed working in her yard and traveling.  She also liked to knit and read but enjoyed most caring for her family.  She loved to cook and have her grandchildren and great grandchildren around her.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ed Fitzpatrick and children, Lisa Slusher and Morgan, and David Fitzpatrick and Leslie;  grandchildren are Joe Slusher and Elizabeth, Charles Slusher, Jake Slusher and Jessie, John Slusher, Kristina Fitzpatrick and Cody Fitzpatrick; great grandchildren are Haley, Ava, Max, Madelyn and Will.

The family of Mrs. Fitzpatrick received friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service was on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Madison Baptist Church.  Interment followed at the Madison City Cemetery.

Richard Lowell Messer Jr.

Richard Lowell Messer, Jr, 49 of Rutledge, died August 20, 2017.  He was the son of Lowell and Phyllis McBee Messer.  Mr. Messer worked for Pro Care Cleaners.  He was a member of Rutledge Baptist Church.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Richie was a reliable friend and would help anyone in need.

Richie Messer is survived by his children, Todd Messer, Paige Messer and Dylan Messer.  He also leaves his parents, Richard Lowell and Phyllis and siblings, Stephanie Austin, Leslie Backus, Phillip Messer and Steven Messer.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Rutledge Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at the Rutledge City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family.
