The Morgan County Charter School System is teaming up with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office to amp up law enforcement’s presence at Morgan County schools. On August 31, the school system signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Sheriff’s Office.

“The document is an agreement between the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and the Morgan County Board of Education to establish the School Resource Deputy (SRD) program,” announced Superintendent Dr. James Woodard. “Our number one priority in the Morgan County School System is the safety of our students and staff members. We rely on our relationship with the Sheriff’s Department and the School Resource Deputies to assist us in maintaining a safe environment in all of our schools.”

Morgan County Sheriff Robert Markley commented that “The SRD program is a very important piece of the puzzle that demonstrates the commitment that the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and the Morgan County School system has to the student’s safety.”
