Jewel Grace Haden Muzyka

Jewel Grace Haden Muzyka, 75 of Madison, died August 25, 2017. She was at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Muzyka was born Oct. 1, 1941 in Mississippi. She was the

daughter of the late Elias and Dolly Barnett Haden. She was a retired nurse and enjoyed helping others. For a time, she left healthcare and concentrated on her children. She drove a

school bus for many years in Morgan County. She was also a girl scout leader and affected many young women through this role. Today, many still refer to her as Ma Jewel. She was married to Peter Muzyka on September 4, 1970 in San Diego, CA. She was a blessing to her husband, always encouraging him and their children.

Mrs. Muzyka is survived by her husband, Peter and children, Peter Rex Muzyka and Vicki and Claudia Muzyka-D’Arrigo and Michaelangello. Her grandchildren are D’Mitri, Janna, Chris, Dennis, and Samantha. Her great grandchildren are Audrey Grace and Emma.

A memorial service was held on Sat., Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral Home.

 

George Ervin Workman

George Ervin Workman, 78 of  Madison, died Sept. 2, 2017. Mr. Workman was born Sept. 14, 1938 in West Virginia. He was married to Dora Baldwin Workman. He was retired from Fowler Flemister Concrete. He also worked for Earth Pak, operating equipment.

Mr. Workman was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He enjoyed time outdoors, hunting and fishing. George Workman is survived by his wife, Dora and children, Carol Pittman and Richard, Kenneth Workman Charlotte and Matthew Workman and Crystal. His grandchildren are Kenneth, Rebecca, Matt, Riley, Levi and Luke. The family will receive friends on Thursday at 1p.m. at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.

 

JoAnn Robertson

JoAnn Robertson, 67, of Bishop, passed away Sept. 7, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Hickey and brother, Jon Hickey.  Mrs. Robertson was previously employed as Marketing Director for Wometco Cable TV before becoming a fulltime grandmother and housewife.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Robertson; mother Norma Charles Hickey; two children, Tracy Campbell of Newborn, and Josh Evans (Jo Anna) of Watkinsville two brothers, Jim Hickey (Kristine) and Gene Hickey (Tammie); seven grandchildren (Kahler, Haley, Kinsley, Dylan, Ansley, Brett, and Chase) and two great-grandchildren (Addison and Kendall)

The family will be holding private services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Mrs. Robertson’s memory to your local animal rescue center or to the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Steve Alonza Kimsey, Sr.

Steve Alonza Kimsey, Sr., 69 of Bostwick, died on Sept. 9, 2017.  Mr. Kimsey was a native of Morgan County.  He was born Sept. 18, 1947 to Cortez and Lizzie Mitchem Kimsey.  He was married to Ann Harris on July 1, 1966.  He was a graduate of Morgan County High School and spent a year at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.  He spent his career as a cattle farmer.  He was a member of the Bostwick Volunteer Fire Department and former President of the Cattleman’s Association.  He also served on the board of the Farm Bureau.  Mr. Kimsey  enjoyed team roping and spent time all over the southeast, roping and herding cattle.  He was a member of Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church and coached the girls softball team.

Steve Kimsey is survived by his wife, Ann H. Kimsey and their children, Al Kimsey and Sonya Kimsey-Magnuson and Scott.  He leaves grandchildren, Anna Candler Kimsey, Russell Harris Kimsey, Sarah Frances Kimsey, Kathryn Caroline Kimsey, John David Lerch and Kimsey Ann Lerch.  Mr. Kimsey also leaves a sister, Rita Harris & Robert Burt.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church.

Larry Neal Jordan

Larry Neal Jordan,  68 of Madison, died September 10, 2017.  Mr. Jordan was the son of the late Wayne and Hazel Jordan.  He was born January 9, 1949 at home in Buckhead.  On December 30, 1976, he was married to Maudie Waldroup.  Mr. Jordan was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation.  He was a highway foreman.  Mr. Jordan enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He also liked cooking, or instructing others how to cook.  He road in many wagon trains and loved to spend time with family and friends.

Mr. Jordan is survived by his wife, Maudie Jordan and two daughters, Kelly Malcom and Buck and Jennifer Jordan.  His grandchildren are Hunter and Ainsley.  Mr. Jordan also leaves two brothers, Johnny Jordan & Daphne and Joe Jordan & Jan.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Thursday at 2 PM in the chapel.  Interment will follow at the Buckhead Cemetery.
