The Humane Society of Morgan County received a $5,000 anonymous donation from a local family, which enabled it to build two, outdoor, shaded meet-and-greet pens.

The pens provide a comfortable, quiet space for individuals or families to meet and interact with their potential forever dog.

The Humane Society also has an outdoor recreation space for animals to spend playtime together outdoors. Prior to the meet-and-greet pens, that space served as both a recreation area for the animals and a meeting space.

“This is great because it lets the adopters meet and spend plenty of time with the dogs without the distraction of all of the other dogs. Now, our dogs in the recreation area don’t have to be put back inside while adopters spend time with a potential pet,” said Humane Society of Morgan County Operations Manager Tim George.

“We are truly blessed to have received this donation and are thankful for all of the other generous donations we receive from this community. We would not be able to save the lives we do without the support from this great community.

“I encourage anyone who is interested to please consider making a tax-free donation so that we can continue our mission,” said George.

The Humane Society of Morgan County is located at 1170 Fairground Road in Madison. To donate, people can visit the Humane Society, call 706-343-9977 or donate online at www.humanemorgan.org.
