A 27–year–old Madison man was arrested last week after Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed arrest warrants from Walton County on charges of rape, child molestation and sexual battery.

Brandon Horton was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 17 after a Morgan County deputy observed Horton driving a white Dodge Neon past the Country Store on Bostwick Highway at approximately 6:30 p.m. Reports state that the deputy followed the Dodge into Madison and eventually executed a traffic stop with backup from other Morgan County units and Madison Police Department personnel on Eliza Morris Street.

Horton was arrested and detained without incident.

According to Det. A. W. Smallman, Horton has been under investigation by Walton County Sheriff’s Office investigators since allegations surfaced against him in June. The victim, Det. Smallman said, is a female child under 10-years-old. The girl told her mother about the behavior, which prompted the investigation. “The child made allegations to her parent,” Det. Smallman said.

She said investigators are alleging the abuse took place from May 2016 until June 2017. On Oct. 13, 2017, felony arrest warrants were issued against Horton.
