Suspect charged in assault

A teen wanted in the shooting of a 15–year–turned himself into police late Tuesday, according to Sgt. Wes Thompson, Madison Police Department. Thompson said officials had secured an arrest warrant on Monday, Oct. 13 against Dakota Jarret Feathers, 18, Covington for aggravated assault. Thompson said Feathers had agreed to turn himself into police on Tuesday by noon but actually came to the department at 5 p.m. Feathers is charged with shooting Deshunden Robertson one time in the face at approximately 9 a.m. in the Madison Commons Apartment complex off Micha Way. According to reports, Robertson was the passenger in a 2006 Ford Fusion that stopped at an intersection on Micha Way. While stopped, reports state, a single gun shot penetrated the passenger window and struck Robertson in the jaw. Robertson’s family drove him to Morgan Memorial Hospital and he was later transferred to Atlanta Medical Center. According to Thompson, as of last Friday, Robertson remained in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

Thompson said no weapon has been recovered in the shooting and that authorities are continuing to investigate. He also said investigators had not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
