Bessie Kate (Mue) Grant, 89, died Saturday, May 23, 2009. She was born May 22, 1920 to David and Lela Williams. She was the ninth of 10 children.

Mrs. Grant was a wonderful florist, as well as a passionate childcare provider. She spent many years tending to the gardens and taking care of her children, grandchildren, and any other children that she came in contact with.
She married Lenwood “Manboy” Grant on November 29, 1958. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this past year.
She is survived by her husband, Lenwood Grant, four daughters, Mrs. Cathyer Branch of Atlanta, Mrs. Gloria Brown, Ms. Velma Edwards and Ms. Mary (Felton) Moon, all of Rutledge; four sons, Jimmy (Geraldine) Williams of Atlanta, Leon (Felicia) Williams, Paul (Nita) Grant, all of Madison, Leonard (Mildred) Grant of Rutledge; five step-children, two sisters-in-law, Emma Williams and Keeley Gibbs, 28 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren, two great, great, great grands are expected soon and  many, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30 at Macedonia Baptist Church, Rutledge with the Rev. Robert L. Terrell Jr. officiating. Interment was in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
