CITIZEN STAND
Indulge us for a moment.
While we normally reserve this space to praise, berate, nudge or shove, give us a moment to bask.
For the second year (in a row) the Morgan County Citizen, the paper that recieves such loyal and wide spread support across Morgan County, was named the best weekly in the state of Georgia.
And while we haven’t ordered a case of those large foam finger fan mitts, the honor is worth a mention. When so much has been written about the demise of newspapers across the country it is notable that this paper, your paper, has once again been deemed the best in the state.
It is no accident or a fluke. In trying to hold a mirror to our community, in trying to produce a product that best fits the passion, intelligence and progressive vision that is our community we have produced an image of you, gentle reader.
And you’re the best, obviously.
We’re proud of you. Madison has been honored as the number one small town in America and the paper that serves Madison, Buckhead, Rutledge, Bostwick, Godfrey and every community in between has been named for the third time in 10 years as the best newspaper in the state.
We’re glad we could bring such an invious and admirable reflection onto our community at a prestigious event.
Morgan County makes us look good and for the second time in as many years we’ve returned the favor.
Thanks to our subscribers and advertisers for allowing us to do what we enjoy and, apparently, do pretty well.
Printed in the June 11, 2009 Edition.
