Golf team makes it four in a row

Morgan County High School’s golf team remains undefeated this season following a 154-183 over Eastside High School at the Indian Creek golf course in Covington.

"That’s our lowest score of the year, and it was on a road course, too," Head Coach Steve Cisson said of the win. "I’m very pleased with that."

Eric Dodd turned in a par-36 for the team’s low card last Wednesday, followed by sophomore Clint John’s 2-over score of 38. Brad Kelly trailed juts behind with a score of 39 for his afternoon, while Drew Witchousky placed at the number four spot with his 41.

The win adds to the already successful start for the Dogs, who now post a 4-0 record in regular season play.

"We’re playing fairly well, but I still believe once the courses ‘green in’, it should be more conducive to lower scores," said Cisson. "The guys know they’re playing pretty well. It gives them confidence."

Monday afternoon’s match against Monroe was postponed due to inclement weather, a phenomenon that continues to plague Morgan County’s season. The match was rescheduled for next Monday as a three-team event at Hard Labor Creek, along with Social Circle High School.

The Dogs are scheduled to tee off against Putnam County and Washington this Thursday at Hard Labor Creek, but the Dogs will be watching the skies for expected rain and thunderstorms.

"We’re juts hoping we can get back on the course with this weather," said Cisson.
