Take arguments to the park, not the page

To the Editor:

The current three-to-four week cycle of he-said-she-said letters to the editor, rebuttals, and counter rebuttals leaves this reader frustrated by the lack of immediacy one finds in debates. With the opening of our new Bicenntenial Park, may I suggest that the City Council designate one corner as Speakers' Corner, similar to that In London's Hyde Park, thereby providing a venue for our local cognoscenti to air their views with the benefit of immediate feedback and response from the opposition. Let's give our 'bloviators' a venue where their differences can be openly discussed for all to enjoy. Failing this, I recommend pistols at dawn (but not in the park).
