Literary team takes state championship
Morgan County has two more AA state champions after a weekend of Literary competition in Warner Robins. Senior Hunter Richards and junior Sam Scott brought home titles for the school in boys spelling and boys extemporaneous speech, respectively.
Richards secured the AA championship for the second consecutive year with an impromptu speech on Democratic presidential candidates. Scott followed with his third straight AA boys spelling title.
Bulldogs having taken first in Region 7-AA were Richards in boys extemporaneous speech, Anna Clare Davis in girls dramatic interpretation, Jennifer Franklin in girls spelling, Scott in boys spelling and boys essay, and the quartet of Phillip Hendrix, Daniel Frances, Chris Owensby and Michael Lindsey. Seven Morgan County region winners traveled Saturday to take part in the competition against other region winners from across the state. In addition to the two state championships, Scott took first runner-up in boys essay and Davis took fourth in girls dramatic interpretation.
