Back to Wellness launches new line of mattresses

By Kathryn McBroom

Michael Hughes, of Rutledge’s Back to Wellness center, is launching a new line of natural, memory-based mattresses. The mattresses, which are soy-based, are available through Back to Wellness’s “Back 2 Sleep” gallery.
Manufactured in Madison’s Georgia Sleep Shop, the “chiropedic” mattresses are specifically designed to provide maximum comfort and support via three patented processes and all natural materials.

Back 2 Sleep mattresses are available in three different styles: chiropedic memory foam, chiropedic Belgium latex, and a chiropedic memory foam and latex combination. Each style is comes in a range of sizes, from twin to California king.

Hughes, a chiropractor, said he created the mattresses in part because he, “wanted patients, and the community, to improve their lifestyles. I thoroughly enjoy ridding patients of their back pain, and it’s phenomenal to be able to present this to them.”

Stiffness, tossing and turning during sleep, and not waking up well-rested in the morning are all signs that a new mattress might be in order, according to Hughes.

“All research shows good, restful sleeping leads to a longer life. Your total well-being is related to sleep, whether it’s heart, lungs, etc.,” said Hughes. "If you don’t sleep well, you don’t heal well.”

Hughes also had the customer in mind when choosing the materials to make the mattress with. The mattresses use Belgium latex foam and a soy base in lieu of the usual petroleum base.

Also gone are the potential toxic materials in regular mattresses. Instead of boric acid and antimony, Back 2 Sleep mattresses are made with an all-natural rayon flame retardant.

Those interested in a Back 2 Sleep mattress can drop in anytime and test one out and have any questions or concerns answered by a Back 2 Sleep employee. As Hughes said, “Back 2 Sleep isn’t your typical retail experience.”

“Our number one priority is to make sure the people get what they want, instead of a high-pressure sale. We’re private, relaxed, and more affordable.”
