The former Dog Ear Books location on South Main Street will soon become The Manley Bearden House Antiques. The house is scheduled to open in February

Y’all keep checkin’ on the cornbread and stirrin’ the chili while I go see what’s makin’ that ricochetin’ racket out on the front porch! Momma! It’s too ding dang cold and icy to be outside! What the? Why in the Sam Hill are you rubbin’ Crisco shortenin’ on MeeMaw’s old ironin’ board? And, what’s with the fancy goggles, yellow ski outfit and red lipstick? Spit fire! Momma’s done sawed off the ironin’ board legs and she’s haulin’ it ‘round like a surf board! This ain’t right! Momma . . .You’ll look like a sleddin’ fool if you try to ride that ironin’ board down East Washington Street! STOP! SWISHH . . . SWOOSH! Ding dang! She disappeared like a crazy bat outta hell! Talk ‘bout a fast move!

Honey! Momma ain’t the only one on the move! Most of the dealers who have space at The Shops At the Ice House Underground are flat movin’ to South Main Street! I’m talkin’ they’re gonna relocate to the former Dog Ear Books location on at 270 South Main Street in that big beautiful yellow historic house! Talk ‘bout a star location! Right! So, Madisonian Paulette Long is helpin’ to organize the transition! Anyhow, y’all will flip ‘cause this is gonna be a major positive addition to Madison and Morgan County! They’re gonna transform the house into The Manley Bearden House Antiques. Paulette says they want this to be much more than an antique shop! In fact, they want it to be a historic destination! To do that, they plan to decorate the house with antiques in a way that replicates actual historic livin’ spaces throughout the house so that visitors can tour the house and shop too! Madisonian and local historian extraordinaire Woody Williams is currently doin’ research on the house and says that core of that house pre-dates the civil war! Oh and Paulette says we’ll be able to hold special events there that can be catered by the fabulous Madison ChopHouse Grille! I LOVE IT! It’s expected to open Feb. 1 at 10 a.m.! Y’all keep watchin’ this column for more intel on this fantastic story and I just can’t wait to see what Woody finds out!

Y’all keep your eyes peeled for the pendin’ openin’ of Keith Rex’s consignment shop located at 179 South Main St. called Just out of the Kloset, in downtown Madison! Keith might just have it open as early as this weekend although the snowy weather might have flat slowed him ding dang down! I just can’t wait to pop in there and check it all out!

Ron Erwin is doin’ some remodeling work at In High Cotton located at 158 West Jefferson St., in Madison! He plans to reopen the shop in ‘bout a week or so!

Anyhow, Ron says he’s remodeling’ throughout the shop to create a better point-of-purchase flow throughout the shop! I flat love, love, love points of purchase – especially when I have my handsome husband’s credit card!

Oh and they’re gettin’ in all kinds of new merchandise with really affordable price points! Hey! And, y’all don’t forget to check out Ron and Rhonda’s Last Chance close-out store at 183 West Jefferson St! It’s super fab!

Ok! I flat know all y’all are plannin’ to head over to the Morgan County Chamber of Commerce next Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. for their fundraisin’ luncheon! Come on over and enjoy some slap-yo-momma-good homemade cookin’! Hey and Momma says she might even bake one of them Hummin’ Bird Cakes for y’all! Now that’s good!

Hey and all you girl’s had best be over at the Morgan County Citizen tonight, Thursday Jan. 13 at 5:30 for the Chamber’s Women In Business meeting! We’re gonna have a great time with Dr. Elise Faust of Family Chiropractors! Elise is gonna talk all about stress management techniques! I can’t wait to see all y’all over here!

That’s it for the Buzz! Y’all stay warm, be sweet and let me know if you see Momma sleddin’ on MeeMaw’s ironin’ board! I’ll see all y’all next week: Same time. Same Number One Weekly Newspaper in the Great State of Georgia!
