Sing it y’all! Celebrate! Celebrate! Dance to the music! Celebra . . . RING! RING! Y’all hush up! I gotta get the phone! Ding dang! It’s Paw-Paw! Momma’s doin’ what? Cacklin’ Crows! We’ve gotta head over to the Big House fast! Momma wants to have the world’s best fried chicken at the Madison Morgan Cultural Center’s July 4 Celebration picnic on the front lawn Friday, July 1! The bad news is that Momma’s testin’ out a new recipe that calls for fryin’ chicken in a ding dang pressure cooker! She got this cockamamie notion from Randy Wind, publisher of the Cairo Messenger! Thanks for puttin’ all of Morgan County in danger Randy! Ok! This calls for a bomb-squad intervention! We’re gonna need helmets, safety glasses and a fast car! Let’s go!
Meanwhile in Momma’s kitchen . . . . . Fitz-Pop-Pop-Fitzpop-POP! Cackle cackle POP! Fitz-Pop-Fitz-Fitz-POP! Fire in the hole! That pressure cooker’s fixin’ to BLOW! Take cover! POWWWW! CRASH! BANG! Mamma! You flat donated your brain to science before you were done with it! Well I reckon we’d better clean up this mess and go out to supper at the newly opened Eenoco in downtown Madison! Yes! It’s open for sushi, steaks and seafood! Y’all go give it a try!
I’m right sad y’all. I reckon all y’all know by now, but I’m truly sick about Godfrey Cox’s announcement that it’s closin’ its doors after 12 years of success! Owner Lyn Hunt is retirin’! Anyhow, Lyn and those Godfrey Girls are the Bomb ‘cause they created one of Madison’s most popular, successful and beautiful shops! Well the good news is that they’re goin’ out with a fun bang ‘cause honey everything’s 35 percent off! And, some of their clothing lines are 40 percent off! Y’all had best get your bowhonkers over to 127 South Main St., in Madison as fast as lightnin’! Check out their ad in this week’s newspaper!
Ok! Good news! Catherine Russel, owner of The Madison Tea Room and Garden, located at 290 Hancock St., in Madison is doin’ great! She’s recovering from breast cancer and looks beautiful! Ok so Catherine is in town workin’ on the tea room and she’s fixin’ to head to Dallas for a gift show to get her Madison business ready! After that, it’s off to Houston at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for her last round of radiation treatments and then she’s gonna get this business open! Ok, so I popped over there just a few minutes ago to check it all out and y’all are gonna love what she’s done with the space! It’s an English tea room honey and it’s fabulous! Catherine’s spirit is so positive and upliftin’! I just love hangin’ out with her! So y’all keep watchin’ this column for updates and say some prayers for Catherine!
Hey! The beach is comin’ to Morgan County! Yay! I just saw Kenny Pritchett, owner of The Chowder House located at 633 North Main St., in Madison that’s fixin’ to open up within the next few weeks! Steamed shrimp! Oysters on the half shell! Steaks! Fish sandwiches! Ding dang, Kenny! Hurry up with it ‘cause we’re flat hungry!
I’ve gotta split this groovy scene! Y’all be good, shop local, advertise local and I’ll see all y’all next week: Same time. Same Number One Weekly Newspaper in the Great State of Georgia! But hey! Y’all come on over to the house for a porch party! I know it ain’t 5 o’clock just yet, but just tell The Boss you’ve gotta do some “market research” to build revenue and expand market share! Then skip, run or jump on over to my front porch! Oh and Momma’s cooked up a new batch of white lightning’ so you’d best bring your own!
