Momma says drop the black dress and leave the iPad behind! That’s right y’all! Shoppin’ Local Is The New Black! Ding dang! It was flat crazy ‘round here on Black Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Some of our retailers reported record sales like on Friday at Madison Markets! Rosemary Buttermore says it was one of their busiest Friday sales day in nine years! I mean you couldn’t find a parkin’ spot hardly anywhere in downtown Madison! Laughin’ Moon was so crowded you could barely turn around! Hey and I flat know y’all fabulous local shoppers had something to do with the fantastic weekend! And, wait up y’all! We’ve got the fabulous 2011 Town & Country Holiday Tour of Homes sponsored by the Chamber this week from Thursday til Sunday! Let the holiday shoppin’ go gang busters for our retailers, our restaurants and our LOCAL ECONOMY! Ding Dang Dong and Ho Ho Ho! Oh! And, y’all hold onto the Citizen’s beautiful Holiday Tour supplements from last week ‘cause honey they serve as the perf shoppin’ guide!
Y’all excuse me for just one little bitty minute while I call Momma to tell her I picked out the Perf Frye Bag at the Barkin’ Dogs Shoe Co. for her to give me for Christmas! Momma! What in the Sam Hill do you mean I’d best high tail it out there pronto with some fancy tea and scones? Y’all! Momma’s done lost it now and it’s all ‘cause she came to town on Black Friday and had tea at the brand spankin’ new Madison Tea Room and Garden owned by none other than Kathi Russell! Honey, Kathi smack spoiled Momma rotten and now she thinks she deserves fancy tea promptly after 11 a.m. every ding dang day! Honey, she’s even gotten out the tried and true black patent leather shoes! Lord have Mercy! Next she’ll be wearin’ white gloves! Well the good news is that Kathi’s Madison Tea Room is OPEN and it’s flat beautiful! Just check out the photo in in this column! Love it! So right now if you want to have tea, just call the Madison Tea Room at 248-705-5010 for reservations and head over to 290 Hancock Street in Madison right next to SunTrust Bank! Y’all are gonna FLIP when you see how FANTASTIC this place is! There is 3,000 square feet and it can also be rented out for weddings, receptions, dinners, luncheons, birthday parties and fun celebrations! Hey and don’t forget the garden! “People come here for service and that’s just what we give them. We want them to think they’ve stepped back in time,” Kathi said! Hours of operation are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., but of course it’s open any day for special bookings! Y’all check it out!

The Kiwanis Club of Morgan County is holdin’ its Christmas fundraiser and honey they are flat sellin’ Glazed Spiral Cut Virginia Hams at only $40 per fab ham! You can purchase your Christmas Ham from Madison shops Town & Country, Creative Mark and Amelia’s or from any Kiwanis member! Y’all get that ham today so Momma don’t have to cook your goose!
And, speakin’ of goose . . . Momma ate too much turkey and now she’s gonna have to run, run, run like the wind to burn those Thanksgivin’ calories off! Honey Rusty Ewing of Madison says y’all better run in the Rotary Club’s Madison Christmas Rush Classic Road Race this Saturday, Dec. 10!
