Community Thanksgiving Dinner served more than 350 people
To the Editor:
The annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner for the citizens of Morgan County was held on November 24th at the Morgan County High School. The dinner started many years ago at Calvary Baptist Church and grew in size so several other churches, local and civic organizations joined us to serve the community. As in the past, the dinner was a huge success. Over 350 dinners were served and delivered. We extend thanks to all of our sponsors for helping to fund this year’s event: Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Hoke Smith, pastor; St. Paul A. M. E. Church, Rev. Cedric Cotton, pastor; Holland Springs Baptist Church, Rev. James Braswell, pastor; the Morgan County Branch NAACP, Mrs. Laura Butler, president; and the many volunteers who came out to help and also those who donated items for the dinner. We look forward to your participation again next year. We give special thanks to Dr. Mark Wilson, principal of Morgan County High School; Ms. Phyllis Martin, director of School Nutrition for Morgan County Schools; and the Morgan County School High School Nutrition Staff for their assistance in the food preparation. If anyone would like to join us as sponsors for next year, please feel free to call Calvary Baptist Church (706-342-4260) and give them your information. Again, thanks so much for helping to make this annual event a success.
