Dorans travel to Metropolis, Ill., for Superman event

I send my sincere sympathy to the Ray Messer family in his death. I had only seen Ray one time briefly at Jim and Sylvia Moon’s house. But Jim and Sylvia, Jay and Hunter are neighbors of ours. I knew from Sylvia of her daddy’s sickness and his suffering. This was a family that was very close and shared much love. That part of the chain was broken but in heaven it will all be together once more. Now Ray is not suffering his pain is over. He is with his Lord.
Sara Nell Bonner had supper with Hazel Jordan on Friday night. Saturday James and Jean Garrison of Atlanta, Cathy, Robert and Justin Armistead and Rachael and Ray Fambrough helped Sara Nell celebrate her birthday.

As a correction, David and Betty Andrade were married 50 years. Sorry for the error.

John and Gail Wade went to Lawrenceville to be with Rebekah’s daughter Ava Saltisk on Thursday.

The Buckhead Baptist Church had a good service Sunday. On July 9 their Bible school will begin at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It will be from Monday to Thursday. Joya Miller is trying to get a youth choir started and already has a good number. If there is a young person that would like to join she would be happy. Shannon Stone also works with the youth.

Pat Pedley continues to pickup garbage around Buckhead and at the park that people so carelessly dispose of. There are trash cans around. Thanks Pat!

Michael Launius and his wife have a baby girl that just celebrated her first birthday. Brynn is now one year old. Congratulations!

Scott and Jennifer Doran went to the Superman showing at Metropolis, Illinois during the weekend.
Colton Jones spent a few days with Steve and Jo Ann Bryant.

Don’t forget July 4 and the barbecue at the fire department at Buckhead. The band that played music at Old Buckhead Days will be playing. There will be bingo, bouncing house, and a dunking booth as well as a raffle. At dark there will be fire works. So much fun. It will be a day that will be fun-filled. Make your plans to attend.
Scott Doran had a birthday June 21. A belated happy birthday, Scott!

Jo Ann Bryant had eye surgery recently. I hope that it does well Jo Ann.

John Launius moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee and works for Sonoco.

At the beginning of the column I failed to mention where Ray Messer was buried. He was buried at Prospect Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Jackie, son Johnny and Penny Bone Messer, two daughters Sylvia Moon and Jim and Heather and Gus Gardner. He also had six grandchildren, Jay and Hunter Moon, J. R. and Katelyn Messer and Landon and Andrew Gardner.

Jackie and Ray had been married for 46 years and just last week he turned 70 years old.
Jenny and Jamie Winters have an anniversary on June 30. Happy anniversary!
Mary Smith Duke has a birthday on July 3. Happy birthday Mary!

Beatrice and Linda Smith from Eatonton came to see Rassey and Edna Smith one day.

The people at the Lake Oconee Baptist Chapel really enjoyed the concert that Miles Pike had on Sunday night. It was really a blessing.
