Howard Henry Sims
Howard Henry Sims, 85, died June 24, 2012. He was born April 13, 1927. He served two years in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II. He later went to work for the City of Griffin and lived most of his adult life there. He was a member of Carver Road Baptist Church. Mr. Sims enjoyed playing and coaching softball. He played the guitar by ear and was a Citizens Band radio enthusiast.
Mr. Sims is survived by his children Debbie Mitchell, Candace Sims, Henry Sims and Stacy Dutton; a sister Sue Gilstrap and brothers Joe, Toy and Carl Sims; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 26. The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of A. E. Carter Funeral Home. Interment followed at Providence Cemetery.
