Happy 80th birthday, Sarah! A great time was had by all!

Sarah Peek was honored Saturday, July 7 on her 80th birthday with a surprise birthday party given by her family. The occasion was held at one of her grandchildren’s house, Justin and Sami Jo Jenkins at 687 Lakeview Drive, Newborn.
    Approximately 65 friends and relatives attended and helped her celebrate this occasion with her.
    Delicious food and cake were enjoyed by all.
    Mrs. Peek is the mother of five children, one deceased, 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    Glenda Nelms is recuperating following back surgery at Athens Regional Hospital. She is now a patient at Morgan Memorial Hospital TCU, where she is taking therapy.
Jessie Bell Freels and son James and Michelle Freels of Madison, Miss. spent last week with Shirley Self.
    Sympathy is extended to the family of Beatrice Hanson in the death of her O.T. (Buddy) Hanson of Toccoa.
    Mr. and Mrs. Steven Jones and 11-month-old Ellie Kate of Cartersville spent the weekend with her sister and family Sami Jo, Justin, Bonnie and Emma Jenkins. They were here to celebrate nieces Elizabeth Pickett’s first birthday, Granny Peek’s 80th birthday and grandmother Wilma Pickett’s birthday. Mrs. Jones is the former Brittany Pickett.
    Ina Wallace is at Emory Hospital following surgery. We all hope for her a speedy recovery.
    Lois Harper who writes the news from Rutledge has been hospitalized for several weeks now. We miss you Lois. Hope you will be well real soon.
