Brownwood Baptist Church’s Homecoming set for Aug. 5

Attendance Sunday morning was good considering some was out because of work, vacation, sickness etc. We welcome the visitors that came, we are always thankful for them coming and being a part of our services. We pray they received a blessing and will come as God leads them to be with us again. The choir’s special was, “When the Morning Comes.” Other special music was, “Mansion Over the Hilltop,” by Janice Jenkins, Laura McCart and Kittie Mayfield with Betty Mullins at the piano. Brother Ron’s message was, “Behold the Lamb of God,” John 1:29, 1 John 3: 1,     Revelations 21: 3-5, Revelations 22:7, 12 and Rev.3: 14-22. John is known as the disciple whom Jesus loved. God used mighty men of old to write scriptures. We behold Jesus, He took away the sin of the world, and this is our witness, testimony and gospel, our sin forgiven, cleansed and washed away. Behold what manner of love the Father had for us when Jesus died for us on the cross. Let this change your life, we’re children of God, work of salvation is complete. Behold what He’s going to do the word became flesh and dwelt among them and behold I make all things new and the promise, behold I come quickly. He’s walking in the midst of His church today, writing to church, knocking on heart’s door, doesn’t force anyone. Behold let this be a conviction.

Sunday night at 6 p.m. good attendance of youth and adults. Special music was by the Whosoever Will group with Kittie Mayfield at the piano. Brother Ron’s message, “Creating Atmosphere of Happiness,” Philipians 4: 4, Matthew 5: 5-12 and others. Climate of Happiness in the church, loving atmosphere, must be Bible centered environment, members of church must be enthusiastic, freedom rather than formality, free to worship, evangelistic, telling others about Jesus. God and His word is our authority, church must be daring and get in on it, have great faith and vision, win people for Christ, remember a great church is a praying church. Holy Spirit is Jesus’ gift to the church, put these in play and trust God. The filling of the spirit is for everyone. Let God use us.

Thinking
Your mind is the gateway to your heart.
A great mind is always a generous one.
The mind is a scheme machine.
Of all parts of a man’s body the brain is used the least.
An empty head is worse than an empty heart.
At the start alas consider the finish.
Positive thinking is the only way to produce positive results.
Ideas are like children your own are wonderful.
Advice from an old carpenter; measure twice, cut once.
Watch your thoughts they are blueprints for action.
Empty lots and minds attract trash.
Keep your mind clean – change it occasionally.
Second thoughts are always wiser.
Nothing threatens Christian character, as do impure thoughts.
Many a train of thought never reaches its station.
Think on these things.
