Turning our country around is easy • Fred Johnson
A friend recently confided that he was worried that even if Republicans won the election that they could not quickly turn the economy around. My response was; “That will be so easy, even I could do it.”
The first thing the president can do is cancel the drilling moratoriums and approve the Keystone Pipeline.
Then there are the czars who are appointed by and report only to the president. Some of the czars are the Car czar, the Pay czar, the Tarp czar, the Stimulus accountability czar, the Great Lakes czar and even a Guantanamo closure czar. The czars would all be gone at the stroke of a pen. There are also over 900 executive orders President Obama has issued including a list of "Emergency Powers" and martial law powers for the president. A stroke of a pen cancels the executive orders also.
Then, remember that the president appoints all new cabinet members. Gone will be Janet Napolitano at Homeland Security and her “Man caused disasters.” Gone would be Energy Secretary Chu, who does not own a car. Gone would be Leon Panetta at Secretary of Defense. Gone would be Timothy Geitner at Treasury. Gone would be Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services who is busily writing thousands of pages of Obama Care rules and issuing thousands of exemptions to labor unions (and restaurants in Nancy Pelosi’s district) from those same rules. All in all, there would be 15 people replaced plus hundreds of political appointees at these government agencies.
Here’s a novel idea. Replace the cabinet secretaries with people who are experts in their field. For example the Secretary of Defense could be a military man instead of a Washington, DC politician. The Secretary of Energy could be someone from the energy sector, rather than a green energy activist. Another idea would be to replace the members of academia in the administration with seasoned executives.
Getting the economy going again is equally simple. In addition to canceling the drilling moratoriums; repeal Obama Care and its tax hikes, reinstate the Bush tax cuts, cut the corporate tax rate and remove the tax penalty for bringing foreign profits back to the United States. Shut down the team of bureaucrats who are writing thousands of pages of rules and regulations for the Dodd Frank bill and replace them with business experts.
Implement spending cuts already passed by the House but buried in the Senate.
Wow! That was easy. Not only would our economy be humming again, but with a conservative in office, citizens could once again be assured that the administration is following and defending the Constitution.
