Momma! The U.S. Postal Lady just delivered a super huge ACME Products wooden crate! Let me read what’s printed on the side: “Contains Two (2) ACME Firefly Outfits, two (2) bottles ACME Glow-In-The-Dark Pills and two (2) Pairs ACME Anti-Gravity Hover Shoes.” Hand me PawPaw’s rusty ole crow bar and let’s open this sucker! CREEEK CRACCK! Oh my Gosh! We’re gonna get rich! Rich I say! We’ll entertain everybody at the Firefly Festival this weekend and take up a huge, ginormous money collection! Let’s slap on our firefly outfits and hover shoes! Wow! Momma check out our pointy glow-bug tails and flapper wings! And these crazy bug antennas are a hoot! We look FAB! Let’s take a swig of White Lightnin’ with our guaranteed-to-work-or-your-money-back glow pills! Shoot Fire! We ain’t blinkin’, but we sure are glowin’! Switch on the hover shoes! Ding Dang! They work! We’re six feet off the ground! All we gotta do now is wait for a little breeze and we’ll . . . SHASTA! There’s a wild wind whippin up the trees over yonder! HELP! An updraft is takin’ us way over to Town Park and up, up, up into the twilight sky! Shoot Fire! We’re caught in a downdraft! Watch out BELOWWWWW! CRASH! SPLASH!  Momma! Don’t look now but you got a big ole goose egg where you knocked your noggin’ on the Town Park Fountain! Let’s hover on home and plan our next get-rich-quick scheme!
That’s right y’all! Plan to flit on over to the Firefly Festival this Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28 at Town Park! Gates open at 6:30 p.m. both nights and performances are from 7:30 p.m. til 9:30 p.m.! Ok so Friday is designed all ‘round kids, kids and more kids! Friday tickets are only $5 for kids and ADULTS GET IN FREE! I flat love it! First up we’ll be entertained by singer songwriter and story teller Dusk Weaver with his band Dusk & Sky throughout the evenin’ while the kids can play at many of the stations like the face paintin’ area, craft tent and The Caboose for shaved ice! Sponsor Paschal Orthodontics is hostin’ the fun bouncy house and Firefly Festival Presenting Sponsor (for four years runnin’) Main Street Vet is brinin’ Red the miniature horse! I flat cannot wait to pet Red! Oh and the crazy Tree Man is gonna be wowin’ everybody ‘cause he’s taller than a dang tree and looks like one too! Oh and that reminds me: No dogs allowed ‘cause honey that Tree Man would not like it! Ok so on Saturday honey it’s Sounds of Motown for only $5 per ticket per person and you can bring your coolers, a picnic from your favorite Morgan County restaurant, chairs or a blanket and you are flat set! And speakin’ of Fireflies! Madison-Morgan County Chamber’s Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Ellen Ianelli and I were collaborating’ on some really difficult and highly technical hard work the other day at Laughing Moon located at 183 South Main Street in downtown Madison when honey we came across the absolute cutest things EVER! Y’all they are sellin’ these big mason jars with fireflies that really do fly around when you tap the top of the jar and they really do blink just like real fireflies! I love, love, love them! Oh and they also sell these really cute Firefly t-shirts that GLOW IN THE DARK and they come in their very own bug catcher jar! Y’all head over there immediately to buy your jar and your t-shirt and tell ‘em the Biz Buzz sent you! Hey and wear your firefly t-shirt to the Firefly Festival! Yay!
I flat love fireflies – so much so I think I’m gonna hire me a decorative artist to paint me a big mural of them in my bedroom! Hey! I’ll call my good friend Alice Lee Andreottola ‘cause she is a fantastic artist and she’s openin’ her Decorative Painting Studio in downtown Madison at 125 West Jefferson St.! Perf! Ok so Alice Lee, who is an art history major with a masters in Art & Architectural History, focuses on murals and decorative custom painted furniture! She’s been doin’ decorative paintin’ since 1995 for commercial and residential clients and works with interior designers as well! She’s flat fantastic!
