Johnson to be honored
Madison resident Ken Johnson, architect and engineer, will be honored in Atlanta on Sept. 25 for his notable career as a modern architect. The recently razed C & S Bank on Moreland Avenue raised loud protests from the East Atlanta neighborhood, the Atlanta Preservation Center and the Georgia Chapter of DOCOMOMO, an organization devoted to the documentation and conservation of the Modern Movement. A retrospective of his 60-year career will be presented in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Central Congregational Church on Clairmont Avenue in Atlanta. For more information please go to the website docomomoga.org.
The Godfrey Community Park annual pork barbecue and stew will be Saturday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plates are $9 each.
