Lucinda Thomas

Lucinda Thomas died Saturday, September 15, 2012. She was born February 16, 1935 to the late Hosea and Gertrude Thomas of Madison. From this union six children were born and she was the youngest and only girl of the six children. Lucinda had five brothers to precede her in death, Willie James, Charlie, Johnny, Willie Perk and Robert Lee.  After the death of her mother she was loved and raised by her uncle and aunt, Willie and Cora Mae Thomas.  At an early age she accepted Christ and joined Calvary Baptist Church in Madison. She attended the public schools in Morgan County.
Ms. Thomas worked at Best of All Foods in Monroe and Madison Foods Incorporated in Rutledge for over 25 plus years.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Garrell (Paulette) Thomas of Covington. At an early age she was blessed with another family, six sisters, Sarah L. Ingram, Nina Mae Peoples and Dorothy (Charlie) Mathis III of Madison; Annie M. Swain and Cora Carter (Ron) of Atlanta; and Maggie M. Butler of Lithonia; one brother Willie Ingram of Monroe; a sister-in-law, Joyce Campbell of Crewe, Virginia; a devoted nephew Ronnie Ingram Sr. (Ann) of Madison; garden buddies Betty Clark, Joann Sheats, Dorothy Mathis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service for Sister Thomas was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22 at Plainview Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert F. Broughton officiating. Interment was in Madison Memorial Cemetery.
Jones and Turner Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
