Helen Elizabeth “RoRo” Latimer Rutledge

Helen Elizabeth “RoRo” Latimer Rutledge, 88, of Rome passed away Wednesday morning September 19, 2012 in a local nursing home following a short illness.
A native of Bartow County, Mrs. Rutledge was born June 10. 1924 , daughter of the late William Fletcher Latimer and Hattie Bell Whitworth Latimer. She had been a resident of Rome most of her life, moving here in 1957  when her husband, Rev. Robert Rutledge accepted the pastorate of the Garden Lakes Baptist  Church. Rev. Rutledge was the first pastor of the church. After Rev. Rutledge passed away,  Mrs. Rutledge was employed as a special education paraprofessional at Garden Lakes Elementary School until her retirement in 1997.  She was a member of the Garden Lakes Baptist church where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Rutledge enjoyed camping, fishing, and cross stitch. She will be remembered as a kind, loving, and thoughtful person. Mrs. Rutledge was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert Rutledge March 17, 1976 whom she served with at the Powder Springs First Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Rutledge in Rutledge, and East Athens Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter- in-law Arthur Latimer Rutledge and Kay Ellen Rutledge, of Marietta; three grandsons Robert Christian Rutledge, Brandon Ty Rutledge, and Jonathan William Rutledge; six grandchildren Lane William Rutledge, Levi Griffin Rutledge, Giuseppe Latimer Rutledge, Robert Antonio Rutledge, Emily Jackson Rutledge, and Henry Ty Rutledge; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, September 21 at the Garden Lakes Baptist Church with Dr. William  Richard Kremer officiating and eulogies from family and friends. Interment followed in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: nephews Brian Blalock, Grant Rutledge, and Dustin Greene; friends Bob Bowen, Bob Fowler, and Malcolm McDonald; grandsons served as honorary pallbearers.
