The MCHS JV Bulldogs lost their game against the North Oconee Titans last week with a final score of 21-23.
The Bulldogs received the ball from the beginning of the game, and, on the first play of the drive, Trey Chapman brought the ball all the way to the endzone for the first touchdown of the game.
Morgan County led 7-0 with fewer than 15 seconds off the board in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs didn’t have to wait long before they scored again. An impressive run by Sam Couch gave the team good field advantage to score.
Chapman ran the ball nineyards for his second touchdown of the night, and, after Andrew Bishop successfully kicked another extra point, Morgan County led 14-0.
North Oconee’s next possession didn’t end well thanks for back-to-back quarterback sacks by Eric Bell and Steve Ervin.
However, they were able to score one touchdown in addition to kicking a field goal in the final minute and a half of the second quarter of the game.
The score was 14-10 going into the second half.
The second half of the game began with surprising returns by each team.
The Titans received first in the third quarter and their running back (Kevon Hudson, #4) was able to run the ball all the way back for a touchdown, putting North Oconee ahead for the first time in the game 14-17.
Not wanting to be shown up, Chapman, our #4, scored again on the first play of the Bulldogs’ next drive.
Late in the game, Morgan County was still ahead 21-17, but North Oconee was able to score once more, taking the lead out of Morgan County’s hands permanently.
The game ended on a Titan possession, with a final score 21-23.
This was the third loss of the Junior Varsity Bulldogs’ season.
Today, the JV Bulldogs are facing off against the Greene County Tigers away at 5:30 p.m. for their penultimate game of the season.
