A Morgan County man was arrested Sept. 15 and charged with statutory rape after he allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a 14-year-old girl.
Kahdeem Hashaw Chisolm, 20, Madison, was arrested after a two-week investigation by the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, according to Capt. Chris Bish, Criminal Investigations Division, Morgan County Sheriff's Office.
Bish said the victim's mother reported the alleged activity to investigators on Aug. 30. Following the investigation, authorities arrested Chisolm without incident. Bish said Chisolm remains incarcerated at the Morgan County Detention Center.
Bish said a preliminary investigation revealed that the sexual activity was consensual. However, he said, the juvenile's age falls two years below the age of consent in Georgia.
Bish said the victim's mother was adamant that prosecution continue. He also said the department is considering charges against the juvenile. "We're currently researching potential charges against the female in the case in regards to her conduct."
Bish said after Chisolm's arrest he confessed that he had a sexual relationship with the juvenile. "He admitted his involvement," he said.
