Camp Twin Lakes hosts Spin for Kids

Last weekend, Camp Twin Lakes held a two-day family-friendly fundraising bicycle ride, Spin For Kids, which held races at Fort Yargo State Park and here, in Rutledge.
All of the participants over the age of 18 were required to raise a minimum of $100, not including the registration fees, to take place in the rides.
According to Caitlin Still, the Ride Director for Spin for Kids, this year’s ride has been a great success. Over 950 riders took place over the two days of the races, and, so far, they have raised over $360,000.
The Mountain Bike Ride, which took place on Saturday at Fort Yargo, consisted of an eight-mile, a 12-mile, and a 20-mile loop that the riders could choose between.
On Sunday, the Road Bike Race began and ended at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge and offered 5, 27, 47, 62, and 100-mile rides, which covered areas of both Madison and Rutledge.
Although the races are now over, Camp Twin Lakes is welcoming any donations for the fundraiser until November 30th. “
“We are hoping to reach $400,000 by then,” said Still. Four hundred thousand dollars would exceed the amount raised last year at the event, a whopping $380,000.
“Everyone had a great time,” said Still.
“We have certainly grown a lot over the past years and this year I could not have asked for a better turn-out.”
