First-ever Trick or Trot a success

Last Saturday, the Morgan County Elementary School held its Trick or Trot fundraising runs in downtown Rutledge. The event consisted of two races, the one-mile Fun Run, and the 5K.
In addition to the many volunteers at the event, the Morgan County Middle School Cheerleading squad was present, cheering on runners of all ages at the beginning and end of each race.
Dozens of elementary school students stood at the front of the starting line for the beginning of the Fun Run, ready and eager to run the one-mile race and support their own fundraiser.
Several of the Morgan County Cross Country team ran in both races, but, gracefully, they didn’t complete the Fun Run, allowing the Elementary school children a chance to finish the race first.
Coach Robbins and ten members of the Morgan County High School Wrestling team participated in the 5K run in preparation for their season, which will begin with the Blackbeard Duals meet in Allatoona on November 17th.
According to Kristi Friddell, who was heading up the event, 340 runners in total registered in the races, and 165 ran in the 5K.
“It was a huge success and lots of fun!” said Friddell after the event.
“As far as the funds raised, we are still figuring, but we did very well. We will do it again next year for sure.”
