51 boxes for Operation Christmas Child
With Thanksgiving coming up the news column had to be in early. Thanks to Monaray for calling telling me this. It is good the Citizen staff has this time off. Everyone needs to honor Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for everyday. A day of Thanksgiving has been set aside as a reminder to thank God for all our many blessings. This is one day we don’t have to spend a lot of money on gifts to exchange. We enjoy a meal with family and friends and have a good time together sharing our blessings with one another. There are so many with other things to do, they seem not to have time for family or anything. Life is short, our families are important. God has given them to us and our children and grandchildren grow up so fast, too fast. But God means for them to grow up and have families of their own and live for Him and that is a blessing. Just to name a few of our blessings we should be thankful for is freedom and liberty to go to church and worship as we choose knowing Jesus never leaves us; our jobs, homes, doctors, hospitals, medicines, schools, the law that works around the clock to try and keep us safe, volunteer firemen, military personnel, people that work on our roads; all the beautiful color we have to enjoy, friends, neighbors and the Bible that has all the answers. I could go on and on, but I don’t have that much time. I always think of the song “Count your blessings name them one by one.”
Margie Ward visited Mary Jo Collins at The Mews in Social Circle Tuesday afternoon.
Wednesday night at church we filled the shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, all ages helped with this packing four years old through adults, 51 boxers were filled and some people were filling theirs at home to bring to the church. Again we want to thank Peggy Harper and the kids on a Mission group for sponsoring this and thanks to everyone that donated items to fill the boxes with. Beginning the first of the year we collected different items each month and that really helps to buy ahead. After the boxes were packed we enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies.
Sunday, Dec. 9 The Peppers family, who are missionaries, will be at Brownwood during the morning worship to talk about their work and the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.
Rebekah Wood visited Margie Ward on Tuesday night.
We have several on our prayer list at church we would appreciate it if you joined us in praying for these; Florine Ward, Hattie Head, Ozell Moss, Frank and Betty Bohannon, Mary Jo Collins, Paul Austin, Ruth Page and Steve Page.
At this time I ask if you’re in the community and have any news you don’t mind sharing with others please let me know 706-557-2805 and I will put it in our weekly column of the Morgan County Citizen. We have a lot of shut-ins that get the paper and they love to read the community news, they look forward to the paper coming on Thursday.
He who forgets the language of gratitude is not likely to be on speaking terms with God.
Gratitude shouldn’t be an occasional incident but a continuous attitude.
A thankful heart enjoys blessings twice – when they’re received and when they’re remembered.
Happy Thanksgiving!
