Visiting at the nursing home
We had a good time at the Nursing Home Saturday although we had only a few due to the Thanksgiving week coming up. God did say where there are two or three agreeing in my name I will be in the mist and He was in our presence on Saturday with Evangelist Lizzie Stokes presiding; Mother Rebecca Hubbard had prayer, Mother Elaine Atkinson sang and had words of comfort; I did a reading from I Timothy 4:12-16, “Do not neglect your Spiritual Gift,” Mother Doris Shepherd a word from the Lord entitled, “Don’t forget to give God thanks for what He has done for you,” from Luke 17:17 and Revelations 21:4. Visitors from the Nursing Home came forward to let us know how much they enjoyed the Word and singing. Singing is good but the Word is important and that is what they enjoy telling. Mother Shepherd explained everything so plain to their understanding it. Praise God! Mother Shepherd you did an awesome job continue to use your gift, it will get better and better. Always give thanks for what God has blessed you with whether it’s big or small. Thank you Lord.
Mother Shepherd said in her spoken word that we need to stop being so mean and disrespectful to each other and come together because when we all get together there will be no respectable person to God. We are all His children. Praise God.
Happy birthday to my sister Sarah Moon. Everything was beautiful on Saturday evening. Hope you’ll have many more birthdays.
It is coming up to Thanksgiving and our pastor’s test came from St. John 3:16 text, “Motivated by Love,” for God loved the world so much that He gave His only son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send His son into the world to condemn it but to save it.
We need to stop complaining because there is no eternal doom awaiting those who trust Him to save them. But if you don’t trust Him you have already been tried and condemned for not believing in the only Son of God in everything you do let it be motivated by love. Don’t forget things to the extent that the greater blessing we get God sent them. We need to start praising, worshiping and thanking God for all the things we have and we will have little time to complain about those things that aren’t so important. Sometime those who insist on having it all to themselves often wind up with little or nothing, stop being motivated by greed and power and be motivated by love. Praise God! When we do wrong against someone or another person humbly ask forgiveness and watch that anger turn aside, be thankful for each other not just during this season but each and every day. Man can’t give us what we need only God is in control to do that. Praise God!
Our church family will worship with the Centennial Baptist Church pre-Thanksgiving service on Tuesday night, Nov. 20. They were with us last year. We are looking forward to being with them.
Lisa, Alan, Ja'iuya and Tarrus will have Thanksgiving dinner with Tommie and me. I hope to have more on the families who shared Thanksgiving with love ones.
Remember all the sick, shut-ins and bereaved and also our president and cabinet members.
Thought for today: “God did it.”
