Pick up news from “The Vine”

Christi and Robert Gordon will celebrate their first Christmas with a new member of the family. In September their daughter Kalen married Chris in a home wedding. They are happy about this. They have a new member to celebrate with.

Christie Gaines was in a bad car accident some weeks ago. She was taken to Athens Regional Hospital. She is at home now. It will take months for her to recuperate to the extent to be able to go back to work. I did not know this until Christie Gordon told me. There may be others that don’t know. I am so sorry about this. I pray that you will continue to heal and that your pain will lessen.

There was a musical Christmas program at Beacon Heights on Sunday night. There are some from Buckhead that take part in this. Their program was, “His Very Own Star.” A reception followed the program.
Betty Andrade is still sick with the flu. I hope that the rest of you don’t get sick. Take care! Betty I hope you will be better soon!

John and Gail Wade went to Crawfordville for Thanksgiving where there were about 70 there. They go to Rebekah’s house sometime to look after the new baby boy. But the latest trip was that they went to Cornelia to get with her sister and brother-in-law for an eight-day trip to Williamsburg. It was a wonderful trip but they were happy to get back home.

The AWANA will have the 11a.m. service on this upcoming Sunday morning at Buckhead Baptist Church. On Sunday night the adult choir will have a cantata. On December 23 there will be a candlelight service at 7p.m.

Margie and Ron Denning and their three granddaughters spent the weekend with Rassey and Edna Smith. These are Rassey and Edna’s only great-granddaughters.

The Lake Oconee Baptist Chapel had their Christmas social at the home of Bill and Ann Gwathney on Saturday night.

The Children’s Christmas party is Dec. 15 sponsored by the Sonshine Sisters with the support of the Brotherhood. It will be at 1 p.m. at the Lake Oconee Baptist Chapel.

There are a number of birthdays. Leslie Smith and Emily Brown, December 4; Robin Griffith the 11; Lacie Smith the 12;  Ian Brandt the 14; Bobby Smith the 16; T. J Beal (would have been 17, but he is deceased); and Sonya Mullins the 18. Happy birthday to each of you!

It is time for you to pickup your news from the Vine. This is the publication put out by Teresa Wallace and the youth at the Lake Oconee Baptist Chapel. It can be found for free from a number of places. Teresa is writing on, “Virtues from God, found in Rutledge.” It is the story of her father’s growing up years and the Christian upbringing that he received. This month the topic is on humility. All the youth have a part in the paper. Why not look for this and get a copy. It is interesting.

I understand that there is quite a bit of flu all about. Be careful. When you go out in public and get home be sure to wash your hands good with a good detergent that will kill germs. Keep your hands away from your face. I do all of this and hopefully I won’t get it.

Dennis and Julie Godbee had the Godbee family Christmas reunion on Saturday. They had 40 people there. It was a very good day for all there. The weather was fine so that they could be outside if they wanted. It was a perfect day for a reunion.
