Region 8AAA has named its players of the year, and Morgan County’s own Stewart Spence and Campbell Harrison have been named Defensive Player of the Year and Special Teams Player of the Year, respectively.
Both players’ statistics for the year played a big role in the decision to choose them for their honors.
For the year, Spence was able to accumulate quite a list of defensive accomplishments, including: 110 solo tackles, 51 assists, three sacks, three caused fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 11 quarterback pressures, two interceptions, four passes broken up and eight tackles for a loss.
Campbell Harrison had great numbers as well. Harrison earned 36 of 40 attempted extra points, four of eight field goals (the longest with a distance of 50 yards vs. NH), 21 touchbacks, and his average kickoff landed on the two yard line.
Congratulations to Spence and Harrison for these accomplishments during their senior year on the 2012 Morgan County football team.
