Bountiful Christmastime worship
Sunday morning, Dec. 23, attendance was good for morning worship. We still have some out due to surgery and sickness. It was good to have Dot Stewart back with us. She recently spent several days in Athens Regional Hospital. Visitors are still real faithful in their attendance. We appreciate them for coming and they are always a blessing to us. We pray they are blessed as well and will continue to come and worship as God leads. The choir’s special was “What Child Is This.” Bro. Ron’s message, “Because of Christmas,” Matthew 1: 18-25, Romans 8: 31-39 and other scriptures. Because of Christmas we have Jesus, we have salvation. The conception of Jesus was a miracle. From this we have three great assurances. All three are wrapped in the word Emmanuel. 1.God with us; He said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. The same Jesus born in Bethlehem is with us today, forever and always. Born again Christians are anointed by the Holy Spirit of God. God is connected with us through Jesus Christ. 2. God is us; a great truth, God has ever seeing eyes. Christ in you the hope of glory; we’re sealed since the day of redemption, have relationship with Holy Spirit to lead, guide, protect and comfort. 3. God is for us; He’s for us because He’s in us, the scripture is sufficient. If saved you’re part of God’s elect. If God be for us who can be against us? God justified you.
Wednesday night, Dec. 19 we had 15 to go caroling from the church. The families visited were Frank and Betty Bohannon, James Harold and Ellen Smith and Lawrence and Ozell Moss. Afterwards we came back to the Family Life Center and enjoyed coffee, hot chocolate and cookies.

New Year’s Wishes
What shall I wish for?
Treasures of earth?
Songs in the springtime,
Pleasures and mirth?
Flowers on thy pathway,
Skies ever clear?
Would this ensure thee
A Happy New Year?
What shall I wish for?
What can be found
Brining thee sunshine
All the year ‘round?
Where is the treasure,
Lasting and dear,
That shall ensure thee
A Happy New Year?
Faith that increaseth
Walking in light;
Hope that aboundeth,
Happy and bright;
Love that is perfect,
Casting out fear;
These shall ensure thee
A Happy New Year.
Peace in the Saviour,
Rest at His feet,
Smile of His Countenance
Radiant and sweet.
Joy in His presence!
Christ ever near!
This will ensure thee
A Happy New Year!
