Improvements made to Rutledge park

The park in Rutledge has received many improvements thanks to a $62,400 grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund in 2010. That grant expires Dec. 31 of this year.
City Clerk Debbie Rutherford said that the skate park and basketball courts are complete and ready for use.
The softball field has been seeded and the city will provide bleachers at a later date. Rutherford said that field will not be ready for use until spring.
As to the tennis courts, which are not covered by the grant, the city will bid them out.
“We hope to have those done by spring,” she said.
According to information shared during the October meeting of the Rutledge City Council, the park also will include trails and a gravel parking lot.
