Publisher Bobby Mackey said the issue of Helping Our Fathers Raise Our Daughters has hit the stands.
He said the current issue has been amazing.
“So many authors have helped contribute to this magazine,” he said. “They had a chance to include research and personal stories: data and statistics applied to daily lives.”
He noted that the focus of this issue is education. It includes articles on parental involvement, new standards in public schools, demanding the best education for your child, and stopping bullying.
“Education is knowledge,” he said. “That’s one of the things that helped me escape.”
In response to the school shooting in Newton, Conn., the school edition of this issue focuses on school safety.
Mackey said their first issue – Helping Our Mothers Raise Our Brothers, which went on sale in May of last year – was “a great edition.”
“It reached over 2,500 mothers and families,” he said. “It was received on a scale that was unbelievable.”
He said this shows a need for such a magazine that reaches across many demographics.
“If you just have children it can be difficult,” he said.
This difficulty may be experienced by single mothers, single fathers, or even the more traditional mother-father family.
“Parents tend to be so busy trying to make a living for our families that we don’t set aside the time to educate ourselves,” he said. “We tend to overlook certain situations or think they’re just growing pains.”
He added, “Hopefully we can empower these men to stay with their daughters.”
The third issue of the magazine titled Helping Parents Raise Our Children will focus on family structure and the decline of the traditional family.
“It has morphed into single parents, single mothers, single fathers, blended families, same-sex couples raising children,” he said.
The magazines may be purchased online through the website helpingparentsraiseourchildren.org.
