Search for county Extension Agent nears end

By Stephanie Johns
Staff Writer

Interviews for the new Morgan County extension agent have been completed and paperwork has begun, according to Bobby Smith, program development coordinator for Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia.
Smith noted that this is a “slow process.”

“Hopefully, we can get that done and make an offer in the next couple of weeks,” he said.
He said they started the process a little over a week ago and it usually takes about two to three weeks.
The next step will be for Norman McGlohon, Northeast District Executive Director, to talk to the Morgan County Commission to make sure the funding is there, Smith said.

“It’s a cooperative extension position so it’s cooperatively funded from the university and the county level,” he said.
Once that is done they will be able to fill the position.
