William Herman (Bill) Davis
Bill Davis, 87 of Madison, died January 21, 2013. He was born January 29, 1925 in Molina to H.H. and Lottie Griffin Davis. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in forestry. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was later married to Bernice Pinson on January 25, 1948.They made their home in Morgan County. Mr. Davis was president of Cape & Davis Forest Products. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Mr. Davis was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening and was a long time member of Madison Baptist Church.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife Bernice Davis and two children, Debbie Tamplin (Wayne) and Doug Davis (Mary Helen); six grandchildren, Sally Nunn (Lee), Anna Newell (Michael), Katie Floyd (John), Lee Sanders, Julie Wade and Ashley Davis; great-grandchildren Claire and Mason Nunn, Hayes Newell, John Addison, Mitchell, Amelia and Parker Floyd.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Davis.
The family received friends Tuesday, Jan. 22 from 5 until 7 p.m. at A. E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Madison Baptist Church. Interment followed at Madison City Cemetery.
