A 23-year-old Madison man died last Tuesday, Jan. 15, after a truck he was driving on Bethany Road left the road and struck a tree.
According to Georgia State Patrol reports, Cody B. Eager was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer he was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned onto its passenger side before becoming airborne and striking a tree. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. near the 2000 block of Bethany Road.
Reports state that Eager apparently was traveling north on Bethany Road and crossed the centerline and entered the southbound lane. When he attempted to come back into the northbound lane, reports state, he overcorrected and the truck left the roadway on the east shoulder.
Reports state that no seatbelt was in use and that Eager was partially ejected from the vehicle.
