“Will you give the Lord a chance?”
In 1 Samuel 9: 27, the prophet Samuel urged King Saul to send his servants ahead of them, and then he asked Samuel to stop. He urged Saul to take a break as he heard from the Lord. Far too many times today we find ourselves bogged down with the hectic regularities of life. We fill our plates with so many activities from work, school, and play that we rarely have time for the Lord. In an effort to keep a well balanced social life, we tend to put God on the back burner in our lives until we are forced to make that emergency phone call to Him when we are in desperate need of His help. In this passage of Scripture, King Saul was urged to stop, or take a break, so that he could hear the Word of the Lord proclaimed to him. I believe this is a clear indication that God wants us to take at least a few minutes of our day and give Him a chance to speak to us through His perfect and infallible Word. Give the Lord a chance to speak to you today. You may be surprised at the blessings that He has for you through being obedient to His will.
