jack “Richard” Peters Jr.
Jack “Richard” Peters Jr., 56 of Madison, lost his year long battle with cancer January 16, 2013. He was at home surrounded by his family.
He was born August 15, 1956 to Jack Richard Peters Sr. and the late Helen Withrow Peters. He grew up in Rutledge. In November 1973 he joined the United States Navy and served in Beaufort, South Carolina until November 1977 when his enlistment ended. He then moved back to Madison.
He is survived by his wife of 37 1/2 years Denise Garrison Peters; two daughters Sallie Jo Peters Lunzmann and Jim of Juliette and Amy Denise Peters Hollins and Ryan of Ames, Iowa; one grandson William Eric Peters and one soon-to-be granddaughter Delilah Elizabeth Hollins who is due February 20; father Jack Richard Peters Sr., Rutledge; sisters Linda Peters Smith and Donnie of Snellville and Denise Peters Perry and Brian of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; father and mother-in-law Thomas and Betty Garrison of Madison, sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Jimmy Bumgarner of Madison, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Peters.
Richard was a member of Beacon Heights Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Visitation was Friday, Jan. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at A. E. Carter Funeral Home. Memorial service was Saturday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. at Beacon Heights Baptist Church. Officiating at the service was Rev. Steve Brown, Rev. Wayne Ghann and Matthew Smith his nephew. Burial was at Madison Cemetery.
A. E. Carter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
