John B. Buchanan Jr. died February 5, 2013. He was the son of John B. and Annie Laura Warren Buchanan. He was born June 26, 1926 in Nashville, Tenn. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Europe during World War II. Mr. Buchanan was married to Gloria Miles Buchanan. He was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he was a nutrition specialist.
Mr. Buchanan served as an elder of Madison Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He loved to read and fish and enjoyed chasing hurricanes. He was a family man and took a great deal of pride in his two granddaughters.
Mr. Buchanan is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gloria Buchanan and a daughter Melanie Laseter and Mike; two granddaughters Dr. Lela Ward and Kyle and Gloria Lynn Laseter.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Feb.7 at 11 a.m. at Madison Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Wayne Ghann officiated.
