Almost 160 students rocked the night away for the annual Morgan County Middle School (MCMS) Rock a Thon, according to Karisa Seymour, the band director at MCMS.
There also were about 40 adult chaperones, she shared via e-mail.
While a final count of the money raised was not available by press time, Seymour said the event went well.
From a spa for the ladies to a ping pong table for everyone, this event was a hit.
The lunchroom held flat screen TVs and Xboxes. A live band made up of high school students as well as a parent performed.
“It was fabulous!” she wrote. “A great time was had by all. A tradition to continue building upon!”
Seymour explained that some students received pledges and sponsors for the evening while others received a pledge per hour of rocking or a straight donation.
“Money raised will be used to help with instrument repairs, some small instrument purchases, masterclasses with professional musicians, and music,” she said.
