New student teachers come to Madison

Jennifer Morris, a student teacher at Morgan County High School, began her education at the University of Georgia in library science but decided she wanted to go a different route.

Currently a senior, Morris will graduate in May in business education and will begin the Masters program at UGA in Instructional Technology in the fall.

After being told about the media specialist degree available at UGA, Morris decided instead to go into business education so that she could go on to a career in either corporate training or as a media specialist. She will also become marketing certified after taking classes this summer in the field.

Morris is teaching computer application and Word classes at the high school under Mrs. Zachary, Mrs. Freeman and Mrs. Frost.

"Everyone has been very nice to me…so willing to answer questions," Morris said.

Because Morris grew up in Atlanta’s Buckhead, she said that she was confused when she first started teaching here and discovered that there was another Buckhead.

"I love Madison because I’m from the city," she said. "I love the sidewalks and trees. And the houses are great."

Morris’s mother and brother live in Marietta, and Morris currently resides in Athens.
