Madison City Council names members to Impact Fee group

Madison elected officials appointed 10 members and two alternates to a special committee which will meet three times this fall to discuss the city’s upcoming impact fee ordinance.

Mayor Tom DuPree outlined the structure of the group, which is specified by state law. “Half of the committee should be consist of bankers, realtors, and commercial and residential developers, said DuPree at a special called council meeting last Thursday.

After some lively discussion, council members selected the following volunteers: Bill Bhame, residential developer; Chris Braswell, commercial developer; Tim Carter, banker (as well as a fireman, a group that will receive impact fees); Bobby Jones, contractor/home builder; Sherry Terrell-Alexander, Realtor; Bob Hogan, citizen; Avery Jackson, citizen; David Land, citizen; Pat Stokes, citizen; Pam Hendrix, citizen. Council members also selected Mike Conrads and Joan Alby as alternates to the group.

The group is expected to begin meeting on August 13, and will meet three times before disbanding. All impact fee committee meetings are open to the public, said Madison Planning Director Monica Callahan.
