"Can you believe the first day of school is upon us?"

Our revival services of last week were outstanding with a different preacher taking the stand each night and with special singing. Leon Brownlee led off the meeting on Monday night followed by Paul Pittard, Derek Jenkins, Chris Yancey and the closing night was again led by Leon. On Friday night Leon began his sermon with “The Report Has Gone Out! He asked who all believes all the messages that had been preached throughout the week? It boiled down that the report is that the Holy Bible is brought to us directly from God. On Monday night our special in song praise was from Generation; then Tuesday night brought us The Picketts, Wednesday belonged to our own singers of which we have an abundance in talent. Thursday night Danny Knight blessed us in song and praise, then on Friday night we were blessed by the girls from Faith Baptist. Throughout the week we had others that came forth and gave us a message in song and we do thank each and every one of you that participated and made our revival special. We appreciate the many visitors that came our way, some former members, others just needing a blessing and enjoying the services. Each night we were reminded that our revival was being dedicated to our past members, who had passed in the last 15 to 20 years, most recently special dedication to Bill Bumgarner.

Last Sunday it being Youth Sunday as is every fifth Sunday the special was “Climbing up the Ladder. Then as Lou took the pulpit taking his message from Isaiah 35 he told us that present suffering will be repaid by future glory, a place not made by hands where peace and love dwells forever. We do not know what is in store for us. Eyes have not seen nor have ears heard what we will expect to see and hear. Our Lord will come into your life if you let Him in;  many times He has to kick the devil away and come inside our hearts. But that drawing spirit has to be the main power. You cannot just “play church.

On Sunday night our youth were invited to sing at Trinity for their fifth Sunday night singing. I was not able to go but I understand we had a nice crowd that attended and enjoyed the service. We do thank Trinity for inviting our youth to sing.

We enjoyed the love and fellowship in the visit with Hubert and Doris Buice and Betty Glazener several days last week. They attended the revival each night they were here and enjoyed it. It was also good to have relatives in the congregation on another night. Our Aunt Omie Powell, Wayne and JoAnn Hix, Joan Ekstrom, Sherry and Paul Pittard and their son Matthew from Snellville. Paul preached on Tuesday even though he was sick.

Again our prayer list grows. We received word today, Monday that Eurtiss Hamilton has been in the hospital with her heart; Kathleen Bumgarner has been undergoing tests and still has more to go, she needs our special prayers; as always Janet and Clay Bumgarner, Dorothy and Virgil Bumgarner, Betty McDaniel, Roy and Katie Miller, Mildred Lyle, our next door neighbor and so many others, our list goes on and on.

There are many revivals in the areas please call me if you’d like me to announce your church activities.

On the 13 revival will begin at Almon Baptist in Covington and Freeman’s Creek in Farmington. On the 14 Lou and I will be singing at Freeman’s Creek and we hope we have some of you that will attend with us on that night.

Belated birthday wishes to Marie Cagle who will celebrate the 31. Happy birthday to Ginny Bell on August 1, Sara Duncan and Amber Stovall on the 2, Amanda Morris on the 6, Herman Evans on the 7 and to Shelby Smith on the 9. Special greetings to my dear friend Ruth Easters who will celebrate on the 7.

Can you believe the first day of school is upon us and with that will come our AWANA meetings each Wednesday night beginning on the 15? We look forward to having your children in our program and if you’d like to work with us we will appreciate your help. Let me remind you also of the AWANA training to be held on the 25 and that your deposit needs to be in by the 16 to attend at Hebron Baptist in Dacula.

Until next week may the Lord bless you real good.
