"Wednesday night we will kick off another year of AWANAs"
You’ve heard me speak of our Sugar Creek Quartet, well on Sunday we were minus one so they became the Sugar Creek Trio. They sang a special, “A Little Talk with Jesus, Neal sang “I’m Building a Bridge. Overall the service was good with congregation singing added to that and several visitors.
Our goals should be to be able to see Jesus and then our earthly father. Strive to lay in that foundation. Be able to present ourselves as unspotted and pure. It’ll be better than what we have ever experienced here. Lou took his message from Mark 9:14 what’s impossible with man is possible with Christ. Our Lord will give you the strength to get over every mountain but we have to ask for His guidance. Are you serving Satan or our Lord Jesus? Satan has those followers that will take everything you have. He’s the prince of the world but our God say’s if we are saved He’ll never leave us or forsake us. Any pastor that is worth his “salt will beg you every Sunday to accept Christ. Begin living only for Him. You’ll prove that you are a strong warrior. In the end we’ll have more than we’ve ever had before. Oh! What a Savior is mine, verse 23 tells us “If thy canst believe all things are possible to him that believes. But first you’ve got to have the faith and it will have to be God’s will.
Kathleen Bumgarner is having gall bladder surgery today, Monday and we pray for a most successful and painless recovery.Â
Cliff Walker will have cataract surgery on Tuesday. There are others that will be having procedures later on and we need to send our strongest prayers for them. Remember our regular list we all stand in the need of prayer.
We send our sincerest sympathy to Allison and Caleb Bell in the recent passing of their great-grandfather, Jack Cox of Clarkston.
School is back in full swing. Our kids are involved in sports and different activities and we even have Nikki Higdon going into the ROTC and she’ll be trying out for color guard. Hang in there Nikki.
James and I visited with my Uncle Clifton and Aunt Marguerite Holloway last week. If you remember he was on our prayer list for so long as he had been badly burned. He is doing much better but both of them still need our prayers. By the way on the front page of last week’s sports page Mark Holloway and his son Cole were featured. Mark is the grandson of my Uncle Woodie and Aunt Marie also of the Centerville community. Mark and his family reside in Morgan County.
Ginny and Danny Bell had their two little nieces for the weekend. We also had little Karity Sears with us again. She’s the sweet granddaughter of Brenda and David Bryan.
Our Uncle Hubert and Aunt Doris are visiting with us this week. They will enjoy going to revival at Freeman’s Creek Baptist and Almon Baptist.
Betty King has enjoyed a few days of vacation. She journeyed up around Pigeon Forge and enjoyed several of the activities in and around that area.
Jackie and Johnny attended the homecoming services at Johnson Methodist Church in Oconee County. Jackie was raised in this church and the pastor today Tommy Cochran is the son of Jackie’s pastor at that time. I’m sure she has great memories of her home church.
Our granddaughter Susanne and Eric Bell along with Bailey and Anna spent Saturday with us. It’s always a special time to have family with you.
Wednesday night we will kick off another year of AWANA’s. This is always an exciting time for our children as well as the adults. If you’ve not registered your child for our program it is not too late. The last Wednesday of each month will be a special theme night. This month’s theme for August 29 will be Hawaiian Shirt night so wear your loudest shirt.
Happy birthday to Blayne Harrington on the 17, Caleb Higdon and Russ Johnson on the 18, Cole Walker on the 20, Rusty Johnson and Jason Bridgeman on the 22. Happy anniversary to Kerry and Lance Smith on the 18. Special birthday blessings to our three grandson, Trae Holmes, Curtis and Chuck Arwood who will celebrate on the 19.
This quotation is taken from my Guideposts, “The indispensable first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want.
Until next week may the Lord bless you real good.
