Union Springs Homecoming, Family and Friends Day, wa a great success
Last week was our Revival and we had two great speakers, Dr. James Miller from Louisville, Kentucky and Prophet Fredrick Collins from Birmingham, Ala. I didn’t attend on Monday night but I thought of the scripture that said I can do all things with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need and I attended Tuesday through Friday nights and got up at my usual time for work and was not late for my job. “Praise the Lord. Most of the time we make excuses because we don’t want to go places or be a part of what is going on.
Sunday was another beautiful day. We had Homecoming and Family and Friends Day. We had a number of visitors who came from far and near to be with families. Mother Rebecca and Deacon Richard Hubbard Sr. and Evangelist Eula Banks welcomed the members, friends and visitors back home again; not only to Homecoming but the church door is open every Sunday morning and Wednesday night to worship with us. Our Gospel Choir rendered the music for our service, “Leaning on the Lord, and “Don’t Mind Waiting on the Lord. I don’t mind waiting on the Lord because I know what He has for me is for me and I’ll wait until my appointed time comes. Thank you Jesus.
I must say this before I give you our pastor’s text, sometimes we get so caught up in self and material things we forget about others and the one that needs help. God did say if you want your blessings to continue to come you must bless or help the one that is in need. I am doing my best to do God’s will because I don’t want my blessings to cease or my living to be in vain. I want to help somebody and I try every day if it’s only a kind word or a smile because I don’t know what they might be going through.
Our pastor’s text came from Matthew 2: 8-12, “Taking a different direction in Life. Some say it was three wise men but my Bible reads Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men, it did not say three it could have been more than three. They wanted to know where the newborn King of the Jews was? We have seen the star as it rose and we have come to worship Him. Some people traveled miles to come and see or hear a word from God. Some came with joy, worship and gifts and if we didn’t get anything out of the services we began to blame someone else but take a look at self. Maybe you came in with the wrong spirit and were looking for something else. Maybe you need to take a different direction in your life and put Christ first and bring the Holy Spirit with you. We have to be wise as a serpent and calm as a dove but whatever you need to do have Christ in your life.
You have to be careful whom you call your friends because everybody is not your friend. The devil is everywhere don’t look for him in a red cape and a pitch fork in his hands. He might just be in your company today all day long seeking how to get you in his mess. All I am saying is to watch as well as pray and take a different direction in life because some people have different spirits. Jesus knows your thoughts but the enemy does not unless you tell them. It’s better not to talk too much but be wise and always have God in your life don’t give in to the devil because he’s out to get the best of you. If you are going in a different direction in life that is pleasing to God continue to go that way. Praise God. Make sure you know how important it is to you to discover Him for yourself.
Remember the sick, shut-ins and the bereaved in your thoughts and prayers.
Thought for the Week: And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded. â€" Matt. 10: 42
