“To begin to pray is to open a book with no end”

As last Sunday dawned we could tell it was going to be a beautiful day but bone chilling cold. This was the day of our long awaited AWANA Building dedication. The church was packed with friends and members as we began our service with what other than “Amazing Grace.” Then our special guest Drew Parker took over for his special entertainment; afterwards there was a short break and a tour of the new building with a speech and special prayer. After we re-entered the church the AWANA’s began their program as Becky Stovall; our director introduced each group and explained a little about the workings of our AWANA program. Each class did something special that they had learned this year.
After the program Lou presented a plaque to hang in the hall to Kathleen Bumgarner Baughcum. It was a dedication to Bill, her late husband and a tribute to him. The Bumgarner brothers, Virgil and Johnny along with Tommy stood with Kathleen and Jimmy her son as she accepted the beautiful plaque.
After this presentation a plaque was presented to Lou proclaiming our building to be named The Lou Comans’ Building. Lou was speechless, claiming to not be worthy. He said that everyone has worked hard and struggled and he couldn’t name anyone that had not had a hand in making this project come to pass with all the fundraisers and donations, those that had labored for free. Lou has made sure that all our children that come on Wednesday night are fed both physically and spiritually. His goal is to see all his flock saved and swell with God forever.
After Lou read scripture from John 13: 31, telling us to step out and become a new person. Satan can’t have you anymore, his heart was full and his message was short. The service was closed with Drew and others joining in with singing of “The Lighthouse.” We then gathered in the fellowship hall for a delicious prepared meal by the ladies of the church. We do thank the many friends and relatives and church members that made this a most successful day.
Happy anniversary blessings to Tina and Neal Higdon, Rita and Blayne Harrington on February 1, Kim and Rusty Johnson on the 5. And to my daughter Gayle and Jimmy Holmes on the 3. Happy birthday to Lou Comans and Heather Evans on the 3.
Taken from the Guideposts: “To begin to pray is to open a book with no end.”
Until next week may the Lord bless you real good.
